Through Upstate New York and into Vermont...

When we left Niagara, instead of heading back south to Pennsylvania, we decided to go east.  We had never been to the New England states and decided that it was a good time to change that :).  Our ultimate destination was Maine, but we enjoyed all the other states along the way there and back, including the state we were currently in...New York.

We had about seven or so hours of driving that we wanted to do after we left the aquarium and not nearly that much daylight to do it in.  We really wanted to make it to Vermont before dark and see as much country in between (during the daylight) as possible.  So...not too many stops that day and the ones we did make were done as quickly as possible.  If I had it to do over (and hopefully one day I will!) I would plan an extra day in there for exploring Upstate New York.  It was a beautiful surprise!

Our afternoon was spent driving through the gorgeous Adirondack Mountains...

We did sneak in a few quick stops, we just couldn't resist!  The scenery was so pretty :).

By the time we made it to the Vermont line, the sun had already slipped out of sight.  But what took it's place more than made up for it...

...a beautiful full moon!

We stopped on the west side of the Lake Champlain Bridge, the connection between New York's Adirondack Mountains and Vermont's Green Mountains, to watch the moon rise before continuing on down the road...

After crossing the bridge, we were officially in Vermont!  Another new state for us :)!
