Bahia Honda State Park, Florida Keys

Our last morning in the Keys, we went for a walk around the grounds of our accommodations...

The place where we stayed has a marina with boats docked that you can sleep in.  Floating rooms!  That fact was what enticed us to stay there :)...

After our walk, we packed our things back into the car and headed for Bahia Honda State Park.

This park is so pretty :).  I had hoped to stay in one of their cabins, but they were booked solid.  We debated bringing a tent and camping, but there really just wasn't room for one in our car this trip.  So, a day trip it was...

We parked at the swimming area and the kids all got out their conch horns for a little fun before hitting the water :)...

With that out of their systems (haha!), they were ready to swim!  We chose a spot on the sand, dropped our stuff, and melted into the gorgeous water...

I then found a spot on the beach to lounge while the kids happily splashed and giggled...

someday...

When they were sufficiently water logged; we showered, changed, and set off to see the rest of the park.

The views were beautiful, but it was stifling hot.  Seriously.  Take along some good sized water bottles if you intend to walk the trails at Bahia Honda, for sure!  We didn't and by the time we got back to the beach area we were parched.  A quick stop in the concession building for some Gatorade and we were ready to go again :).

    1. Maybe a tropical getaway will be in your near future :). This one sorta snuck up on us (we hadn't planned to go, it just worked out that we were able to)... it was definitely what we were needing, too :).
