11/25/13-11/27/13 Mexico Beach, Florida

Barely any waves on the beach this day...

Plenty of shells, though.  Annnnd something else...

Sea glass!  The first piece we had ever found in Florida!  We were pretty excited about it, if you can't tell :).

The gulf is so different from one day to the next...

I love a good storm, apparently I'm not the only one...

This group of guys came out in the freezing rain to give the surfing a try.  We only ever saw one of them get up.  The rest just paddled (and paddled and paddled...the currents were strong that day).

The next day, the waves had relaxed a bit, but it was still pretty chilly.

The kids had fun on the little playground on the beach while I admired the view...

Waves are so soothing.  I could seriously watch them for a very long time and not get tired of it...

If you notice, the waves have an amber hue to them...

That's because there is a creek that runs into the gulf very close to this spot.  The creeks around here all have a dark amber/brown tint to them because of the cypress tannins.  After a hard rain, the creeks spill more into the gulf and the color is more noticeable.  Other times it isn't noticeable at all.  Just depends...

Sunset :)
