Canyon Village (part 1) - Yellowstone NP

Crossing Dunraven Pass, the highest road in Yellowstone, can be a little dizzying...

When you've been at sea level for a while, the rapid ascent to nearly 9,000 feet isn't overlooked by the body.  We stopped at the top of the pass to stretch our legs and check out the view...aka pause for a sec to get over the dizzy feeling...

Equilibrium regained, we continued on the rest of the way to the Canyon Village section of the park...

The first place we stopped was the Lower Falls overlook on the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone River...

watching her studying the canyon <3...

...she thought it was so pretty, she wanted to sketch a picture for her book :)

It was beautiful...

We didn't get very far into this particular section of the park before the "I can't walk aaaany more...I'm hungry...my feet are tired...I'm hungry...what time is it...I'm hungry..." started.  Yeh, it was past lunch time ;).

"can't...go...on...much...loooonger..." ;)

"hey kids, one last picture and we'll go have lunch"..."wait!  no bunny ears, please"...

giggle giggle giggle..."ok, mom"...  and yet, I'm still seeing the ears...sneaky little things ;)

I didn't want anybody falling out on me (hehe), so we took a hiking/sightseeing time-out and headed to the nearest visitor center to get cleaned up and have a picnic.  We weren't far from the  Canyon Village VC, so that's where we went.  Full tummies and a little rest worked their magic on my crew...by the time our picnic was finished they were all hopping around, full of energy and ready to conquer the world.

Since we were already at the vc, we popped inside to check out the exhibits and get a program schedule.  Looking over the schedule, we noticed that a particularly interesting program was starting soon at the next section of the park...in Norris.

We really wanted to catch it and we had just enough time to get there if we left right then.  Knowing that we would be back near the Canyon section of the park the next day, we left for the Norris Geyser Basin...
