We are considering it ourselves and your situation interests me because my husband is a rig electrician. He currently works a 14/14 schedule. He has to drive to the docks, but I know that his company will fly him if he takes an international position,(ie: Mexico, etc...)but I'm not sure if he can be at a different airport each time, or if they would do that in his current position in the states. Maybe he could?

We are pretty new to the oil industry. How does your husband get to his work? Does he fly and if so, how is it arranged with his company? Do you pay for your own airfare or does the company? We would like to say "cuz we can!" but just don't know where to start to get that way. (Well, first thing we are focusing on is to get 100% out of debt!:) )We are hopeful that having such a schedule will help.

Secondly, I wonder how you cope with him being gone and you being in a new location each time? I think I myself would feel afraid (esp at night) in a trailer somewhere without him. What do you do to feel secure in endless new environments? Like I said, we are new to this industry (since Nov) and every hitch is hard. We talk about going to a 28/28 hitch, but I wonder if I could cope! (we have 7 still at home, but one of them is in college. The other 6 children are 18,15,7,5,4 and 1. But then again, the 28 days home would be Heaven to us! So, when he is gone, do you get stir crazy? What are your struggles. I have enjoyed your joyful outlook on life...and I know you have had challenges to overcome. You are a good example!

Thank you for sharing your story! Keep it up!

Blessings,
Cathy, HoustonLemay Familyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02549301668520353446noreply@blogger.com
